There was a time when Pakistan's Lahore based film industry produced a lot of films that had titles such as Miss Colombo, Miss International, Miss Manila, Miss Bangkok and what not. Directed by Ms. Shamim Ara, Babra Shareef played the title role in all of them. The films had nothing to do with beauty pageants and introduced the concepts of women empowerment and independence in those films. The protagonist was always this fiesty girl who found love and happiness, but on her own terms.
On my way to work, I saw this bill board that advertises a film called Miss Top Ten. Now this is a creative title, if there ever was one. I believe the logic behind the title is that the heroine in the film is so out of this world, she is not just number one, she occupies all the top ten slots in the hearts and minds of the people.

But if she was all the numbers from 1 to 10, then why there are three girls on the poster?
